The Anti-Relationship Year
☆ 30th March 2021 ☆
The Anti-Relationship Year is a companion to Katie's first novel, The Anti-Virginity Pact (2020), but both books can be read as standalones.

❝ Johanna Palmer is very much over relationships. After a scarring experience her freshman year of college, she’s decided she would much rather have something fun than something serious.
Her best friend Miller has seen it all—the tears, the parties, the drunken phone calls at four in the morning when she needed a ride. In fact, there might be several things Miller saw that Jo herself can’t remember.
Things Miller can’t forget.
With the whirlwind of senior year underway, Jo just wants to move on, get her degree, and land her dream job. But her past might not be as easy to outrun as she’d hoped. ❞

❝ Wismer's writing is very readable and engaging. It flowed really well and there was lots of realistic, believable dialogue paired with description.
The characters felt real and the emotions came through really well. I could especially connect with main character Jo and how she was feeling. And I absolutely adored Miller; such a respectful and supportive male figure! Their friendship was so cute and I was so rooting for them. Those scenes were some of my favourites. ❞ Full review here.

❝ Katie did a really good job of handling difficult subject matters, while also making it funny, at times steamy without being overly graphic in detail, and also just making you swoon over the romance.
While I will not spoil one of the major plot points of the book, I will say that I loved watching Jo's development and how she handled certain situations with some of the characters in the book surrounding the topic. ❞ Full review here.
Poems for the End of the World
As you may know, this wonderful poetry collection is the second of Katie Wismer's book covers I have designed.

❝ Poems for the End of the World is a coming of age collection and exploration of the confusing and disillusioning trek through young adulthood in a broken world. Divided into four chapters—waking up, growing pains, crushing realities, and disappointing beginnings—this collection covers everything from self-discovery and heartbreak to chronic illness and fresh starts. ❞

❝ Katie has such a nice way of writing poetry. It makes you re-read sentences to really grasp the feeling, but it's not too flowery that you have to look for the meaning behind each word. For me, someone who is not familiar with poetry, this was perfect. ❞ Full review here.
Samantha (5/5) via Goodreads
❝ My favorite thing about poetry is that it hits people differently. Well, it just so happens that my favorite thing is also the same thing that makes reviewing poetry collections a little difficult. I can say with confidence that I felt so much raw emotion in this collection, I found myself having to take constant breaks just to *simmer* in the words I consumed. I am rating this five stars because it made me FEEL pain. It made me feel resilient. It made me feel strong. And most importantly, it made me feel heard. ❞ Full review here.
